Manova's Analysis of The Effect of Physical Activity on Height and Weight
Abstract
Height and weight are two key indicators that are often used to assess an individual's health status. Physical activity factors can affect weight, while their effects on height are more limited and are generally influenced by genetic factors as well as age. This study aims to explore how variations in physical activity, both in terms of intensity and type, impact height and weight. By involving a sample of individuals from different age groups and physical activity levels, this study evaluated a significant influence on body weight, where more intense physical activity is associated with greater weight loss. In contrast, the relationship between physical activity and height tends to be insignificant because height growth generally stops after reaching a certain age. To solve this problem, the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) method was used, which allows simultaneous analysis of two dependent variables, namely height and weight, taking into account physical activity as an independent variable. The results of the MANOVA method test analysis found that physical activity did not have a significant effect on height and weight. The results of the LSD multiple comparison test on height and weight variables did not have a difference in the effect between Low, moderate, and high
